ANNOUNCING QUEER THERAPY GROUPS!

Coming soon, I will be facilitating two queer-centered therapy groups. Both groups will be in the Group Therapy Room in Prism Therapy Group on Monday evenings at 1214 Dina Court, Suite A Hiawatha, Iowa 52233. Each session costs $105, and most insurances are accepted.

LGBTQ+ GROUP THERAPY (Monday 6:30 – 7:30 PM): This group is for you if you are an LGBTQ+ adult who is struggling to adjust or who keeps experiencing distress because you’ve had negative experiences related to being queer at work, in your relationships, in your culture, or due to the current political climate. LGBTQ+ PARENTING GROUP THERAPY (Monday 5:15 – 6:15 PM): This group is for you if you are an LGBTQ+ parent, including LGBTQ+ individuals who are parents and parents who have LGBTQ+ kids, who is struggling to adjust or who is experiencing distress related to parenting in a culture and political climate that is often confusing and less than accepting when it comes to queer parents and kids. WHAT TO EXPECT: These are both 60-minute, in-person groups located in the group therapy room at Prism Therapy Group. They use collaborative and transparent postmodern solution-focused interventions to treat adjustment and stress disorders in relation to primary and secondary experiences of gender dysphoria, gender incongruence, and sexual orientation. This group is an affirming space with a facilitating therapist who is part of the LGBTQ+ community.

WHO AM I: Kalen Zeiger, tLMFT, CCTP, CFTP sees clients at Prism under clinical supervisor Jess Pladsen. Kalen is part of the LGBTQ+ community and has worked with parents and families through coaching since 2008 and therapy since 2019. Kalen has a BA in Psychology; MS in Human Development and Family Science, Marriage and Family Therapy; and is a Doctoral Candidate in Couple and Family Therapy.
